I love it, but not had a big bike before, so still,l a bit nervous of it, but will definitely keep it, 32,000 on the clock, looks lovely. light as a feather when you ride it, but quite heavy, so i find hill starts and right hand turns hard. pleased to join this forum.

Hi folks

I've my 2000 1300SP for some time now and have added a few running mods to the bike. Looking for some advice on what next....So far I've replaced the stock collector box (rotten) with a Black Widow collector, stock exhausts (riddled with holes) with SP Engineering 300mm cans and finally the air filter with a K&N. All this has the bike sounding great but popping and cracking like made on deceleration  :violent188: .

Initially that's my main concern so I think rejetting is probably in my immediate future!  :burnout:

Also see a lot of folk adding 4 degree ignition advancers and larger inlets so I may add them to the list. Airbox mods too?

Is there anything else I should consider?

Thanks!

G

There is an airbox mod where you cut down the intake tube to about 20mm long.

You could fit a stage 1 Dynajet kit.

You may find that once you do this the clutch may start to slip.

Oh shit!

I've just fitted the stage one dynojet today, and it's well worth it. Still a little popping on over run but I'm happy. The 4degree is a must. I've bought but not yet fitted an extra clutch spring to counter the clutch slip, but as it only slips when I'm playing I'm in no rush.

I did the larger inlets, but as this only really effects things above 6k I don't notice it that often, but still worth doing. The airbox mod is quick and simple and makes sense when you see the lay out. I'm actually going a little further with that but I'll post details after the dyno run if it makes a difference. My last run gave me 127bhp and a lovely 88ftlbs, which is nice.

Hi bettyswollokss. Happy New Year to you! Thanks for the reply! I cut down the inlet tube on the airbox, not much of a difference on how it runs I must say, slightly different howl out of the bike now though, I like it! Thoughts on cutting a hole on the other side of the airbox? A few seem to have done that in Googleworld.

4° advancer was already fitted so another thing ticked off. May go for the 36y rubbers next, have you a link for where you got yours? Will probably get them in before I address the jetting/dyno myself!

Cheers!

I got my 36ys off eBay, so keep your eye out. If I see any I'll post the link in here for you.
As for the airbox, I've not done the other side, yet. Next time I'm in there I think I'll do it, the air filter will need drilling out As well I reckon so it's breathing from both ends, I plan on sticking some o rings or draft excluder tape on the end so it seals around the new intake hole.
